And due to our location, we would have to get the bandsaw on a dolly, wheel it about have a block, turn a corner, wheel it another half a block, and then turn another corner and wheel it another half a block this time on a gravel alley to the garage. We had to cancel this item. The delivery driver would only push it to the back of the semi. I rated this as a 1 because I want others to be more likely to read this review so that they understand the shipping issues prior to buying.
However, I have only ordered small items that could come UPS, etc. Also the quality of other items I have purchased from them has been good-excellent. I will say that when ordering directly from the Grizzly site, I have had no problems. As for the product itself, I do not know about its quality.
For an extra $30 we could purchase a liftgate that would lower it to the ground, but then we would have to go from there. It needs to be listed somewhere in the product description, shipping, or something that these shipping considerations need to be taken into account before buying. We were contacted by Grizzly after purchasing and told that because the item was 198 pounds that a semi would have to have access to our home (not a problem) and that we would have to unload it (problem). Had we known all of this prior to purchasing, we would not have purchased.
We were already paying about $80 for shipping. Which meant we would have to get it to the ground. Still problematic.
- all parts (table, fence, miter gauge, motor) are high quality.- solid base and structure- powerful motor - I bought the extension block kit and (with a 3 TPI hook blade) can resaw eleven or twelve inch oak smoothly and with ease- I've used this bandsaw in my contracting business for 9 months now and have never regretted purchasing it. No need to go into a lengthy monologue - don't let the price fool you. This is a VERY good saw.
As soon as it was put together, I used it to make a pair of rocking horses for my two grandchildren. The pictures were blurry and I had a difficult time figuring out what they were trying to explain. I love the Grizzly G0555 14" bandsaw. The only drawback is the instructions to put it together. They definitely could be better. The power with the 1hp motor is very sufficient. It's very easy to do blade adjustments.
The guide post assembly would not stay in alignment as I adjusted it to different heights. While it took me quite a while to get this machine up and running, i'm very satisfied with the end product. Much of what i read in previous reviews is true:1) the blade they ship with the unit is good for one thing only.use them to set up and tune your saw.sometimes initial tuning adjustments can ding up the teeth.I did and i'm glad i wasn't destroying my more expensive blade in the process. Once I put the loose ball bearing back where it belonged, the guide post worked flawlessly.overall, i am very happy with the unit - quality construction at a very good price.
it is not. the ball bearing is loose inside and can be lost when you switch from the shorter 6" post to the longer extension. one would think that this is the ball bearing that is necessary to make the guide post align correctly. here is the issue: the large screw that tightens the guide post has what appears to be a ball bearing welded on to the end of it.
They are really really worthless and i was very disappointed in the product when i first used it. No one at the help line knew what to say and they told me that they would get back to me, but never did. I also purchased the 6" extension and it was relatively straightforward to install. It would skew out of alignment for no apparent reason resulting in an out-of-true blade.
After many failed attempts I called the help line and they were patient and corrected the problem.3) The help line was not helpful in resolving another issue however. Do not however use the blade that Grizzly sends with the machine to actually cut wood. But install a good blade and all is well with the world.2) it took a long time to make the initial adjustments to get the blade on the wheels with the extension kit.
I have been using it for a month now and I never want to stop my work on it once I get started. This Grizzly saw is a very well engineered and beautiful machine. It is a true pleasure to finally work on good and adequate equipment. This is a truly fine and rugged band saw. It replaces an old small three-wheel Craftsman saw that was always inadequate for many projects and also kept breaking blades because of the rather sharp diameter of the wheels.
